Scotts Obituary Scott LaDale Thacker, 39, died Monday, August 7, 2006 at his home. The Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. EDT Saturday August 12 at the Chapel of Faith Funeral Home in Havana Scott has lived in the Havana-Tallahassee area for the past eleven years. He enjoyed working with young people. He was a volunteer with Hugh O'Brian at FSU. He also enjoyed fundraising with Big Bend Cares of Tallahassee. He is survived by his mother Wanda and his dad Ken both of Havana; two brothers, Charles and Jeff; his Aunt Glanna and many cousins. Tharpe St Thursday August 10th, 2006, Show starts Midnight Endora, Your light shone on Tallahassee for as long as I can remember. You entertained us, chided us, prodded us to help others and occasionally "spilled our tea". You gave a start and a stage to countless other performers and even hatched a few "daughters" of your own. If the riches of a person are counted in people helped, friends gained and smiles given, you are one of the richest people I had the honor of knowing. Your untimely passing has shocked us all and given many pause as they consider the frailty of life. I know that when our time comes and our name is called, we will see you there, performing on that eternal stage and spilling a little tea about all those others that have passed before. God's gain is our loss and we will miss you deeply as a friend, an entertainer and an activist for everyone in our community. God Speed Endora, until we meet again. Every thought brings laughter and for now the laughter brings tears. The greatest memory for me is Oct 13,1993(only a queen can remember an exact date). I had just came out to my family and felt it was the end of the world. My father had cut me off(that would be the end for mostqueens), called me a whore, and said the family wanted nothing to do with me(that was the blow). I was depressed and wanted to die. You dragged me out of the house,as you always did when Jose or I were depressed, and we drove around for hours just talking. It was at that momnent that I truly understood what "family" meant in the gay community. My gay family(You,Marcus,& Jose)helped me through it. You and Marcus said it would get better in time and it has. You were always there for Jose and I. Yanking us out of bathrooms and cars and reading the guys for trying to take advantage of your children. Now that I think back we really were like your children. Boy would you scold us. You would hug us to. That I am going to miss most. Jose and I did alot of things that you were against but you always loved us unconditionally. I can go on for hours talking about you.
